The Microbiota Test - Gut Test Plus

The intestinal microbiota is your "second brain". 100 trillion bacteria, fungi, yeasts and viruses influence digestion, immunity, mood, weight and even your predisposition to disease.

Our advanced genetic test Wellmicro® Gut Test Plus (Italian Patent) sequences the DNA of bacteria and fungi from your fecal sample, providing the most complete map of your intestinal flora available today.

The Science

Why Is the Microbiota So Important?

The intestinal microbiota is not just responsible for digestion. It influences almost every aspect of your health.

🦠

Immune System

70-80% of the immune system resides in the intestine. Healthy microbiota = strong defenses.

🧠

Gut-Brain Axis

Bacteria produce 95% of serotonin. They influence anxiety, depression and cognition.

⚖️

Weight and Metabolism

Some bacteria extract more calories from food. Others protect against obesity.

🔥

Inflammation

Dysbiosis causes chronic inflammation, the basis of heart disease, diabetes, cancer.

Health Focus

Inflammation: "The Mother of All Diseases"

It's a strong statement, but scientifically grounded. Intestinal dysbiosis (bacterial imbalance) is the best prerequisite for systemic inflammation.

🔥

From Local to Systemic

When "bad" bacteria prevail, they damage the intestinal barrier (Leaky Gut). Toxins and bacteria pass into the blood, triggering inflammation throughout the body.

🛡️

The Critical Role of Microbiota

The maintenance of overall health depends on the integrity of this ecosystem. Its compromise is the silent basis of numerous chronic pathologies.

The Inflammation Chain

1. Dysbiosis (Bacterial Imbalance)
2. Intestinal Permeability (Leaky Gut)
3. Passage of Toxins into Blood
4. Chronic Systemic Inflammation

Bidirectional Relationship

🧠
Brain
Vagus Nerve
🦠
Intestine

The intestine produces 95% of Serotonin

Stress alters the microbiota

Bacteria influence mood

Neuroscience

Gut-Brain Axis

There is direct and constant communication between your gut and your head. Alterations of the microbiota are scientifically associated with declines in cognitive abilities, mood and appetite.

😨

Anxiety and Depression

Specific dysbiosis patterns have been detected in patients with mood disorders. Correcting the flora can improve mental well-being.

🧠

Brain Fog and Memory

Inflammation originating from the intestine can reach the brain (neuroinflammation), causing mental fog and concentration difficulties.

The Technology

Why Wellmicro® Is Different

Unlike traditional culture tests that only see "what grows in a test tube" (less than 30% of bacteria), our Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology reads DNA directly.

  • 🧬

    Complete Analysis (Bacteria + Fungi)

We are among the few in Europe to analyze both the bacterial and fungal components (mycobiota) simultaneously for a true clinical picture.

  • 🌡️

    Room Temperature Stability

Thanks to our patented buffer, the sample is preserved perfectly at room temperature for up to 30 days. No dry ice or refrigerated couriers.

  • 🔍

    Deep Resolution

We identify microorganisms down to the Species level, not just Genus or Family, enabling precision interventions.

Scientific Deep Dive

Beyond Bacteria: Metabolites and Enterotypes

🧪 Focus on Metabolites (SCFA)

Bacteria don't just sit there. They work. By fermenting fiber, they produce Short-Chain Fatty Acids (SCFA), fundamental signaling molecules for health.

Butyrate

Critical

The main energy source for colon cells. Protects against colon cancer, reduces inflammation and repairs the intestinal barrier (Leaky Gut).

Propionate

Metabolic

Regulates satiety, cholesterol production in the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.

Acetate

Systemic

The most abundant. Enters the bloodstream and reaches peripheral tissues, heart and brain, acting as an energy substrate.

🧬 The Enterotypes

Just like blood types, there are dominant bacterial profiles called "Enterotypes". The test identifies which "Cluster" you belong to.

🥩

Bacteroides

Associated with diets rich in proteins and animal fats.

🥗

Prevotella

Typical of agrarian diets, rich in carbohydrates and fiber.

🍞

Ruminococcus

Often linked to high sugar and resistant starch consumption.

Knowing your enterotype guides nutritional choices.

Biohacking & Longevity

Your Longevity Engine

In Biohacking, the intestine is not just a "transit" organ. It's the operating center of your longevity. Optimizing the microbiota is step #1 to perform at the highest level.

  • Maximize nutrient absorption
  • Modulate inflammation (Inflammaging)
  • Endogenous production of vitamins (K2, B12)

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

The kit contains everything you need: a sterile collection tube with preservative liquid, a spoon, gloves and detailed instructions. Collection takes only 2 minutes and is done in complete privacy at home. Once collected, the sample is stable for 7 days at room temperature.

It is recommended to maintain your usual diet in the 3-4 days before the test to get a realistic picture of your microbiota. Avoid probiotics and antibiotics for 2 weeks before (if possible). If you have had recent antibiotic therapy, wait at least 4 weeks.

We use Wellmicro® technology with next-generation sequencing (NGS) that analyzes the 16S rRNA gene (bacteria) and ITS regions (fungi). This provides much higher resolution than traditional culture tests, identifying even anaerobic and non-culturable bacteria. The report is processed in Italy with certified clinical standards.

After the initial test and implementation of your personalized protocol, we recommend a follow-up after 3-6 months to assess progress. Subsequently, an annual check is sufficient to monitor microbiota health, unless there are significant lifestyle or health changes.

The microbiota test is not a diagnostic test for specific diseases. It is a health assessment tool for intestinal health that can guide nutritional and lifestyle interventions. In case of persistent symptoms, the test should be integrated with a complete medical evaluation.

Integration with Other Tests

The Microbiota Test integrates perfectly with other Predictive Medicine tests for a complete picture of your health.
